
Heres a sneak peak at our new mosaic!
Students have the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the Student Art Gallery which is found in the conference room located in the admin hallway. This is another great way for students to have their hard work show cased.
The Hadley Art Club meets every Day 5 at lunch in Ms. Forrestall’s classroom (room 2.3003). Students in grade 7 & 8 are invited to spend the entire lunch period at art club. Students eat lunch there, and work on projects like ceramic pinch pots, tile mosaics, acrylic painting, and metallic embossing. The Hadley Art Club also takes field trips to the National Gallery of Canada and the Ottawa Art Gallery.
The Screen Printing Club is open to students in grades 10 & 11. It meets after school every wednesday from 3:30-4:45 in Ms. Forrestall’s classroom (room 2.3003). Students make original designs and print them on tote bags and t-shirts. Students experiment with different screen-printing processes like drawing fluid with screen filler, diazo emulsion exposure and vinyl cut outs.
Mosaic Mural Club – Ms.Eaton runs the Mosaic Mural club after school in her classroom (2.3049) every wednesday from 3:40: to 5pm. This is open to Philemon students in grades 9, 10, 11. Students learn the methods and technique in creating mosaic art. Currently the club is working on a very large four panel piece that will be hung up in the stairwell in the front foyer of the school. Next year we hope to branch into individual projects and possibly fundraiser for all to participate in.
Mural Club: Naylissah (NayNay) Joy Aristide a former student is working with a group of students on creating a “Belonging Mural” in the school library. She is here on Tuesdays and Thursday during both Hadley and Philemon lunch.
PW Art Club runs on Wednesdays in Ms.Eaton’s classroom (2.3049) during Philemon lunch (12:50 to 1:30pm). This is available to grades 9, 10 and 11 students. Students have access to materials that are not typically used in a regular art class such as alcohol markers, macramé and Tye Dye. Ms.Eaton’s volunteer has created different activities that students can sign up for outside of Ms.Eaton’s classroom.
